Voice of the Outer South East (VOSE)’s Post

IT’S TIME FOR CHANGE At the Greater Dandenong Multicultural Communities for The Voice Sunday the 8th of October our Secretary Rabecca Mphande represented VOSE ( Voice of Outer South East) and is also the President and Co-founding Director of AfriAus iLEAC. We are so proud of Rabecca and the amazing work she does for multicultural communities and honoured to have her speak as one of the panel on the day.  This was an opportunity for the community to learn more about the referendum and ask questions. What the First Nations People are asking for is fair and humane. This Voice Referendum is about recognising, listening and getting better outcomes for the First Nations People, and all Australians. 85% of the Aboriginal people are saying YES to the Voice. Therefore, they're appealing to the rest of the Australian nation, including multicultural communities, to support them with the remaining only 15% to make it 100%. Panellists and the audience called for scaled up vigilance to debunk misinformation about the Voice Referendum. The No Campaign was planning fear in people, plus misleading them to vote No if they don't know. This should be debunked through sensitising people with accurate Voice Referendum information. According to the Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, it is important to notice that 5 days leading up to the VOICE Referendum, there's still 1/4 of the Australian population which is is still in doubt. Therefore, we should scale up reaching out to people to be aware of the accurate information about the Referendum.  We will continue to support the First Nation Peoples to continue advocating for the Voice beyond 15th October even if the outcomes might go against our target.
